Although not all occupants of a motor vehicle crash are injured, it is important to be checked by a trained medical professional like Dr. Wheeler, early on, after the crash. Some of the tests that he will perform are difficult to do on yourself, and most of those tests are outside the training of the majority of lay persons. Also, he can order x-rays to determine if there are abnormal postural effects and rule out fractures, dislocations and some spinal instability issues. In more severe cases, when the pain is significant, or prolonged, an MRI or other tests may be ordered to more completely asses the soft tissue injuries or other pathologies which may not manifest on routine x-rays. Depending on the findings of these tests and the speed and amount of progress you make under his care, he may discuss referral to a specialist for a 2nd opinion while continuing to care for you at his office.

Dr. Wheeler has been declared an Expert Medical Witness in courts of law. He has advanced training through the Spine Research Institute of San Diego, Dr. Nordhoff seminars, Care First Imaging and the Alaska Spine Institute. He has previously published an interactive CDROM on Orthopedic and Neurodiagnosis which was formerly sold at chiropractic colleges in the United States and Canada. He has worked for several Independent Medical Exam Companies. Dr. Leon Chandler MD of Anchorage invited Dr. Wheeler to complete a fellowship in Pain Management at his office, where Dr. Wheeler observed epidurals, nerve blocks, facet injections, bracing, and video floroscopy. We accept auto insurance and will work with your attorney.
