Each insured vehicle owner in UT has $3000 of PIP or Personal Injury Protection insurance to cover their treatment for injuries from a motor vehicle accident regardless of who was at fault. We will bill your PIP, then if more care is needed we will work with your attorney under a Doctor's Lien.
I. Minimal: no limitation of motion; no ligamentous injury or neurological findings
II. Slight: limitation of motion; no ligamentous or neurological findings
III. Moderate: limitation of motion; some ligamentous injury; neurological findings may be present
IV. Moderate to sever: limitation of motion; ligamentous instability; neurological findings present; fracture or disc derangement
V. Severe: requires surgical management
I. Acute: Inflammatory stage (lasts up to 72 hours)
II. Subacute: Repair stage (lasts 72 hours to 14 weeks)
III. Remodeling stage (lasts 14 weeks to 12 months or more)
IV. Chronic: Permanent.
Neurological signs can include subjective complaints (numbness, tingling, ect.). Fracture can include minimal end-plate fracture; disc derangement can include non-herniated forms. Duration of stages is dependent upon severity of injury and other factors.
Grade I. Daily for 1 week, 3 x a week for 1-2 weeks, 2 x a week for 2-3 weeks, 1 x a week <4weeks
Grade II. Daily for 1 week, 3 x a week for <4 weeks, 1 x a week for <4 weeks, 1 x a month for <4 months
Grade III. Daily 1-2 weeks, 3 x a week for <10 weeks, 2 x a week for <10 weeks, 1 x a week for <10 weeks, 1 x a month for <6 months
Grade IV. Daily 2-3 weeks, 3 x a week for <16 weeks, 2 x a week for <12 weeks, 1 x a week for <20 weeks
Grade V. Surgical stabilization necessary: chiropractic care is post surgical
